I would like to be able to use my tv as a PC monitor, how do I know if it will work as one?

There are a couple of things to consider. One is size. The two texhnologies are targeted at different size ranges. Mid size and up will be plasma while mid size and down will be LCD. But there is even a question of which, then you must be looking at mid sized TVs 30-42 inch. I'm not sure what is the smallest plasma available or largest LCD available. Each has it's pluses and minuses and you will have to decide which are most important to you. Generally plasma will have more vibrant images wihile LCD has longer life and consumes less energy. There are also a wide variety of features available (inputs, outputs, tuners, accessories, etc.) and again you will have to decide which are most important to you. Since you want to use it as a PC monitor, you will want HDMI input. You can connect a video card with DVI output for best results (you will need a DVI to HDMI adapter - as a side note, HDMI is the same signal as DVI but includes audio and uses a different connector). Some sets also have VGA inputs but HDMI is better (all digital) than VGA (which unneccessarily introduces analog degradation into the signal path). Also 1080p sets will potentially be the best picture capability (higher resolution) - obviously it will depend on the source media. For a PC monitor, you will want this. If price is more important that thinest package, DLP (Mitsubishi, Samsung) or rear projection LCD (Sony) may be good values. There are a lot of good values out there in all of the available technologies now and the most important thing is that whatever you get meets your particular needs.

The lcd is much better and it last longer with a more clear picture. I did checked to find the the best of the two and the winner was the LCD
