Is there a way to preserve the true quality of video on a Digital 8 camcorder tape when transferring

When I transfer video from camcorder to computer via i.Link and WIndows Movie Maker, a lot of the quality and size that I have when I watch the video on my TV is lost. I want to preserve the quality so that I can burn video onto DVDs that has quality just as good as if I were to watch the tape by connecting it to the TV directly.

When using the Video Capture Wizard select the "Digital device format (DV-AVI)" option at video Settings. The digital information on the tape will then be transferred in its original quality to the PC for editing.

Be aware that the video still may not look too good on the computer monitor but should still be full quality if it is edited and sent back to the camcorder for recording.

Also, this method uses a lot of hard drive space in a hurry so make sure that your PC is up to the challenge in both drive space and processor speed or you will get a jumpy video as frames are dropped during capture.
